CAN YOU HELP THESE ORPHANS?
Yusta currently has 15 orphans in her care and has housed as many as 18. For many years she has lived in a house on property that is owned by someone else. The owners have decided to sell the property so Yusta and her 15 orphans will be forced out of their home very soon.
Widows’ Land, Fence, and Well
Property was purchased, a fence was put up to protect it, and a well was installed so the widows of Living Spring Church can farm. They are currently producing enough food to feed themselves and the orphans in their care with some leftover to sell to their community and give to others around them.
Cows
Several cows were donated that provide a life-giving source of food for the widows and orphans. The widows take care of the cows and many of the cows were pregnant when they were purchased so the widows were able to give cows to other needy families.
Rental Poperty
Property has been purchased and deeded allowing Living Spring leadership to develop a building plan for a quadplex that will provide a continuous source of income for the medical needs of the orphans in their care.
ring beam and well for rwebisengo
The church is currently rebuilding after its original building was condemned by local officials as unsafe. They raised enough money to put up the walls and ABIDE provided funds for a “ring beam” in order to secure their efforts.
ABIDE and other American partners have also installed and maintain a well that provides a safe and clean source of water on the church property. This well has drawn people from the surrounding community.
Event Stage
Crusades and large events are a common and popular means for church-planting and other community causes in Uganda, but renting and transporting a stage is a costly venture. Instead of renting a stage for the Kanara church plant, ABIDE and other western partners helped Living Spring purchase a stage that could not only be used for future events, but could become self-sustainable, providing an income as they rent it out for other functions.
