 Rwebisengo Church Plant

DSCN0801.JPG

Located near the banks of the Semliki River that marks Uganda’s border with DR Congo, the Rwebisengo church plant is one of the longest-established and largest among Living Spring’s satellite congregations. Because of its location, the church is made up of many refugees who have fled the war-torn Congo, and it has housed and taken care of new refugees in the past, efforts that Living Spring’s American partners have also participated in.

The church is currently rebuilding after its original building was condemned by local officials as unsafe. They have raised enough money to put up the walls and ABIDE has provided funds for a “ring beam” in order to secure their efforts.

Access to clean water is important to all communities, but especially to this water-stressed region where the heat can be overwhelming and the threat of crocodile attacks while fetching water is a reality. ABIDE and other American partners have installed and maintain a well that provides a safe and clean source of water on the church property. This well has drawn people from the surrounding community to the church doors as they share their water source.
